What We Believe

Our purpose and desire is to glorify God and worship Him. Through Prayer and the teaching of His Word we strive to equip His saints to grow in the grace and knowledge of Christ. We desire to be witnesses for Him in our community and, through our support of missions, to witness to the world.

What
We
Believe

Vanguard Presbyterian Church

We are a part of a growing denomination of like-minded churches that stand upon the authority of the Word of God.

More detailed information about Vanguard can be found at www.vanguardpresbyterian.org

The Westminster Standards

We are committed to the authority of the Bible as the highest rule of faith and practice. But we also believe that the best "earthly" expression of the doctrines found there is in the Westminster Standards; the Confession itself, and the Larger and Shorter Catechisms.

Westminster Confession of Faith

Apostles' Creed

One of the oldest creeds in Christendom, the Apostle's creed sums up the faith well.

"I believe in God the Father, Almighty,
Maker of heaven and earth;
and in Jesus Christ, His only begotten Son, our Lord.
Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary,
Suffered under Pontius Pilate; was crucified, dead and buried.
The third day He rose again from the dead.

He ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty.

From there He will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit.

I believe in the holy and universal Christian Church, the communion of the saints,
the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen."
